Performance depends on the battery capacity used (minimum 2 Ah required):

a 3 Ah battery charge is sufficient for 7–10 colonies (based on vaporizing 2 grams);

a higher-capacity 5 Ah battery allows for treating up to 50 colonies initially (from a cold start), or up to 60 colonies if the battery is changed while the unit is still warm.

Initial heating to operating temperature (indicated by a green light) takes only about 3–4 minutes. Subsequent battery change leave enough energy to treat a slightly larger number of colonies.

The kit includes: 3 interchangeable copper nozzles of different shapes for various application methods. Note. The device must be held horizontally during operation and should not be tilted. Includes a metal spring-loaded oxalic acid dispenser with an adjustable oxalic dosage setting (1–4 g).

This model does not feature a digital temperature controller. The operating temperature is factory-set and cannot be adjusted. It is equipped with a platinum temperature sensor (probe). The temperature over-jump could be only 2–3°C. The operating temperature is 220°C. No cooling is required. Heating begins immediately upon connecting a charged battery to the device.

A red indicator light remains on until the operating temperature is reached, at which point a green light turns on, signaling that work can begin.

The spring-loaded oxalic acid injector features an adjustable capacity setting—marked using a dot pattern similar to dominoes—ranging from 1 to 4 grams (depending on colony size). The capacity is set by rotating the threaded handle to align with the dots corresponding to the desired dosage in grams. Once the dosage is set, the open end of the injector is pressed into the oxalic acid powder to scoop up the amount corresponding to the selected limit. The loaded injector is placed over the heating element opening, the device’s diffusion nozzle is inserted into the hive, and the plunger is used to push the powder onto the heating element. A 2-gram vaporization cycle takes approximately 50 seconds. Since the syringe used to dispense the oxalic acid powder is made of metal, it heats up during use; therefore, wearing gloves is recommended.

The copper vaporization nozzles are easily removed for replacement by unscrewing a small hex-screw. To prevent sticking and facilitate removal, the insertion part is lubricated with a copper-based lubricant (included in the kit). The curved “S-shaped” nozzle is suitable for direct vaporization through the traditional hive entrance; the 90-degree angled nozzle is designed for vaporization from above, through the ceiling; and the straight tube can be used if a hole is drilled in the rear wall of the hive for this purpose. The working length of the nozzle extension is approximately 4 cm. The tube has an outer diameter of 6 mm and an inner diameter of 4 mm.
